Experimented with a ring for my wife last year, modelled in Zbrush and printed in fine detail quality plastic then silver by Shapeways.

Not entirely successful - I'd overlooked the impact of the sharp edges on the butterfly wings, but overall a good learning experience and an appreciated gift!
